Comments:  I lived in Monessen most of my life. In 1949 we moved from Motheral Avenue to the City Park area. At that time the area beyond City Park was in Roatraver Twp. I went to RHS, and graduated fron there in 1954. I'm now considered an "old timer". I remember names like Mayor Hugo Parente, Johnson's restaurant, Dr. Sloterbeck, Dr. O'Leary, Check's Furniture store, Monessen Plumbing, the summer softball league with all the social clubs, etc, etc.. . . Those were the good old days of Monessen.
